Physicians
Welcome to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center
Our new Cardiac Catheterization Lab is designed for cardiologists to perform a wide array of catheterization procedures, such as angioplasty and various interventions. Another innovation we have at our facility is the ability to view previous surgical procedures in the operating room rather than having to go to the Cath Lab. The CDs may be sent ahead of time and will be set up in the operating room for your use during any procedure. For those of you who treat winter residents, we also will prepare CDs for you to send to the patient's primary cardiologist.
As you schedule elective cases at our hospital, please ask the surgeon to circle or check those orders applicable to the patient, and to complete all blanks. Once the orders are complete, please fax them to 480.728.3395 (Mercy Gilbert Medical Center's Surgical Admissions Office). It also would be very helpful to have any particular guidelines from your anesthesiologists concerning any medications to be aware of.
One of our Surgical Admissions Nurses will call scheduled patients several days before surgery to obtain a complete history and to answer any questions. They also will work with your office to obtain diagnostic test results well in advance of a patient's surgery date. The blood draw for the type and cross is best conducted 48 hours before surgery. This gives us enough time to send the sample out for further testing if antibodies are present.
